Oklahoma schools asking for help

Many are wondering what they can do to help the victims of Monday’s tornado that killed dozens of people, flattened neighborhoods and destroyed two schools in Oklahoma.

Burke County School Superintendent Rudy Falana received word Tuesday that the Oklahoma State School Boards Association is asking for supplies.

The association is collecting school supplies and personal care supplies that will be donated directly to the schools and the victims’ families.

They ask for any basic school supplies ranging from notebook and copy paper to art supplies and pencils. Other items requested range from canned goods, baby formula and diapers to toothbrushes, sunscreen and trash bags.

The supplies, along with any monetary donations, should be mailed directly to the Oklahoma State School Boards Association, 2801 N. Lincoln Blvd, Suite 125, Oklahoma City, OK 73105-4223. For more information, visit http://www.ossba.org.
